What Should I Bring?
Must haves:
Large 6"+ straight bladed knife - Primary method to extract fossils.
Heavy duty aluminum foil. Primary method of protecting smaller fossils.
Plaster wraps or burlap and plaster- Primary method of protecting larger fossils like skulls and turtles.
Container or bag - Place to store fossils while collecting in the field
Backpack - Needed to carry water and supplies
Water - Do no go without adequate water, it gets hot quick.
Nice to haves:
Rock hammer - Not often used due to impact force but nice to have if needed
Glues and sealers - Harden specimens in the field to further protect them on the journey home.
Cleats or crampons - Assist with walking around on the crumbly ground and on inclines
Rain coat and pants - We collect in the regular rain
Sharpie - Label your finds and jackets
Snacks - We do not provide any type of food or snacks. Guest are encouraged to bring their own if they choose
